Hello again,

As we won't be having a regular support group meeting until January, we've
decided to have a get-together for parents of children with learning
differences and related professionals on Wednesday, December 2, starting at
10:30 at Carolyn Morikawa's apartment in Nishi Tokyo. Carolyn's place can
be reached on foot from Tanashi Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line (about 20
minutes from Takadanobaba by express) or by bus from Musashi Sakai Station
on the Chuo Line (about 20 minutes from Shinjuku). Limited parking is also
available if you would like to drive.

This get-together is mainly for members of the group who live out west and
find it difficult to make it to the regular meetings, but anyone who would
like to come is most welcome.

If you're planning to come, please let Carolyn know and she'll send you
directions and a map.

Best Regards,

Carolyn Morikawa

Meeting location will be in the MPIJ Classroom on the 4th Floor of the ai International School administration building.

Meeting was held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.  This thank you email below was sent by Marla on Friday, March 1, 2013, which is two days later.

Hello everyone!

I wanted to thank everyone for coming to the Annual LS networking meeting. It was an amazing afternoon, thanks to all the energy and enthusiasm that you all brought with you!

I would like to send a very special thank you to Birgit and the German School, who so generously provided not only the space to meet, but also the delicious lunch and snacks. Birgit, you provided us with the perfect atmosphere to enjoy networking and professional dialog. Thank you for all your hard work.

A huge thanks to David So for his help in coordinating the conference and for arranging the guest speakers from Temple University and Asia Pacific University. I think we all learned a lot from hearing what these universities can offer our students.

I would also like to send a very big thank you out to David Langill and Bill Ward, who provided us with professional snapshots in the areas of reading comprehension and math instruction. In a very short time, you both gave us a lot to think about.

A big thanks also to Naho and Maiko, who worked on a presentation about the referral process in schools in the Tokyo area. This presentation gave us the opportunity to discuss what is working in our school and what could be made better.

I am already looking forward to the next meeting of the greatest learning support teachers network ever! Thanks to everyone for making this such a great afternoon!
